Today, on 12th May 2017, American gothic metal/nu-metal and metalcore band In This Moment released their first new single and material since their last album Black Widow (2014), which they toured with, and created music videos for until mid last year. Oh Lord was performed during the Half God/Half Devil tour, Welcome to Rockville and at the Rebellion festival in Carolina throughout last week, completing the tour alongside metal peers Avatar, Motionless in White and Gemini Syndrome last weekend on the 6th May.
From the 8th May – 11th May, In This Moment had been teasing their fans, blood legions, of the promotional imagery of the music video for their new single, on their and Maria Brink’s official Facebook, and later introductory images to their new album Ritual which is due out on 21st July 2017. The album is available to pre-order from their website as of today via their record label Road Runner Records; iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Music and Deezer, and coming with the pre-order, if you pre-order from In This Moment’s website, you’ll recieve a Ritual t-shirt, a poster, and a serpent crucifix rosary.
Oh Lord, musically detaches itself from the band’s previous work, leaning towards Southern gothic/Dark Americana, and gothic metal. Visually, in the video, it uses religious and spiritual symbolism; including Catholicism, Celtic paganism (Druidism), and neo-pagan (Wiccan).
