Admit it, it wouldn’t be Halloween without a band like Cannibal Corpse in town. Brutality of the death metal world at its finest, the band were confined to the venue that is The Forum which consisted of fans who were mostly wearing black, which is appropriate considering the celebrations (but it doesn’t really matter anyway since this is metal).
Cannibal Corpse were promoting their latest record, A Skeletal Domain which has been built up with excitement throughout this year.
The band opened the show with “Staring through the eyes of the dead”, which immediately got the crowd splitting in halves and forming mosh pits around me (I seem to be always in the way…). Each band member especially bassist, Alex Webster had this certain energy on stage that was evidently displayed with angst and power which channelled in to the fans. The reception for newer songs from the latest album is well especially well received especially with “Kill or become” and highlights such as “I cum blood” and “Hammer smashed face” which created havok of pure greatness and chaos between fans, which at a Cannibal Corpse gig, I’ve learnt my lesson to always move out the way. It was certainly a great sight to see. The barriers being the only thing that separates the band and crowd from ever bringing down a venue like The Forum.
By the end of the show, with the little energy that I had, I dragged myself through hoards of sweaty men with the smell of beer lingering in the air, knowing that I just spent celebrating Halloween at a Cannibal Corpse gig and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
